Ingrave Pharmacy’s prescriber-led weight loss clinic provides clinically approved treatments to help residents in Brentwood and Essex reach a healthier weight safely.
Approved treatments: two injectable, two oral, for your health.
Private, unhurried consultation with an Independent Prescriber, not a call-centre script.
Age range considered for treatment, subject to a full clinical assessment.
Weight management impacts long-term health beyond appearance. High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and joint issues are linked to excess weight. Support is essential.
Our weight loss clinic is run by Christopher Okworu, an Independent Prescriber with a specialist interest in weight management. Every consultation is clinical, not commercial.
You speak directly with a prescriber who can assess your medical history, rule out unsuitable treatments, and recommend what is actually right for your situation.
No two patients are the same. Your BMI, medical history, and lifestyle all shape which treatment will work best. We take the time to build a plan around you, not around a generic protocol.
Starting treatment is only part of the process. We provide follow-up support to track your progress, manage any side effects, and adjust your plan if needed. You are not left to manage alone after your first appointment.
We offer four clinically approved weight loss medications. Two are injectable, two are oral. Your prescriber will discuss which option suits your health profile.
Injectable Weight Loss Treatments
Saxenda is a once-daily injectable medication. It works by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone called GLP-1, which regulates appetite and food intake. It signals to your brain that you are full, helping you eat less without feeling deprived. It is administered via a pre-filled pen device, which most patients find straightforward to use after a short demonstration.
Mounjaro is a once-weekly injectable treatment. It is a dual-action medication, targeting both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. Clinical trial data has shown Mounjaro to produce greater average weight loss than older injectable options. It is suitable for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above with a weight-related health condition.
Oral Weight Loss Treatments
Mysimba is a once-daily tablet combining two active ingredients. It works on the areas of the brain that control appetite and cravings, making it easier to stick to a reduced-calorie diet. It is not a stimulant and does not suppress hunger in the same way as older weight loss tablets. It is usually started at a low dose and increased gradually over four weeks to reduce the side effects.
Orlistat works differently from the other treatments on this list. It does not affect your appetite at all. Instead, it blocks around one-third of the fat you eat from being absorbed by your body. That fat is then passed out naturally. It is taken with meals and works best alongside a low-fat, calorie-controlled diet. It is one of the most widely used weight loss medications in the UK.
Wegovy oral tablet is a once-daily prescription tablet containing semaglutide, offering the same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection in an oral form. It is taken on an empty stomach after a minimum 8-hour fast, swallowed whole with a small amount of water, and followed by a 30-minute wait before eating or taking other oral medications. It is supplied following a face-to-face clinical assessment.
Getting started is straightforward. The whole process takes three steps.

Meet privately at Ingrave Pharmacy. We review your health, BMI, and goals to find treatment.
If suitable, receive your medication. We explain how to use it and what to expect.
Both Mounjaro and Saxenda are injectable weight loss treatments, but they work in different ways and produce different results.
Not everyone is suitable for prescription weight loss medication. Your prescriber will assess your eligibility at your consultation, but the general criteria are as follows.
You may be eligible for weight loss treatment if you meet one of the following:
For Orlistat specifically, the BMI threshold is 28 or above
Some medical conditions and circumstances mean certain treatments are not appropriate. You are unlikely to be suitable if any of the following apply:
This list is not exhaustive. Your prescriber will complete a thorough clinical assessment before any treatment is prescribed.
The choice between an injection and a tablet often comes down to personal preference, medical history, and how much weight loss support you need.
Produce greater weight loss than oral options. Suitable for patients comfortable with self-injection seeking active results. Mounjaro has strong evidence and is one of the most effective weight loss treatments in the UK.
Suit patients who avoid injections or have medical histories that exclude GLP-1 medications. Orlistat is widely available with a strong safety record. Mysimba controls appetite and helps those with cravings. Your prescriber decides based on health.
We are not a pop-up weight loss service. We are an established, GPhC-registered independent pharmacy in the heart of Ingrave, run by an Independent Prescriber who takes clinical responsibility for every treatment we provide.
Christopher Okworu is an Independent Prescriber. He can assess, diagnose, and prescribe within his area of competence. Your treatment decision is made by someone with real clinical authority.
Your appointment takes place in a dedicated consultation room. We do not rush these appointments.
We are a real local pharmacy, not an online platform. You can walk in, ask questions, and speak to the same team every time.
If you are not suitable for treatment, we will tell you. We do not prescribe where it is not appropriate.
We are conveniently located in Ingrave and provide pharmacy services to patients across the wider Brentwood district and beyond.

What a friendly and helpful chemists. Telephoned them. Needed an urgent flu jab. Told to come down any time. 2 minute journey and walked through the door. The staff were friendly and the jab was painless. We are losing our real local community chemists and so if you live local use it or lose it. 👍👍👍Posted on Google![]()

No. You can book directly with Ingrave Pharmacy without a GP referral. If your medical history includes complex conditions, we may ask you to provide a summary of your current medications and health records before prescribing.
Most patients begin to notice changes within the first four to eight weeks. The speed and amount of weight loss varies depending on the treatment, your starting weight, and whether you make changes to your diet and activity levels alongside medication.
Some treatments, like Mounjaro, were originally for type 2 diabetes before being licensed for weight loss. If you have type 2 diabetes and take other medication, your prescriber must review your full medication list first. Please disclose all current medications during your consultation.
Yes. We recommend regular follow-up appointments to monitor your progress, check for any side effects, and adjust your treatment if needed. These are part of responsible prescribing and are not optional for patients on ongoing treatment through the clinic.
Some patients do regain weight after stopping medication, particularly if lifestyle changes have not been made alongside treatment. That is why we treat weight management as a longer-term process, not a short course. Your prescriber can discuss when and how to think about stopping treatment, and what to expect.
